Topic-based Activities

Topic-based activities are designed to reinforce and consolidate learning, by allowing students to apply their knowledge about core concepts.

Topic-based activities are great for:

✅ Allowing students to practise and apply a concept after you have taught it in class.
✅ Allowing teachers to check understanding of a concept (giving you an indication if further teaching is required).
✅ Supporting curriculum requirements with engaging practical tasks (allowing students to demonstrate their understanding).

Different ways to integrate:

  • Plan class sessions where students can engage in these activities as a main task (to practice applying their understanding of a concept)

  • Use as homework tasks for students to demonstrate their understanding of a concept

  • Leave for substitute or relief teachers to use as a main class activity, to ensure meaningful learning occurs while you are away
