Design Thinking Challenges

Scenario-based activities that help students think outside the box, experiment with ideas, and embrace creative problem-solving. The focus is on how to think — not what to think — building confidence, collaboration, and communication skills

Design Thinking Challenges are great for:

✅ Adding a fun, energising element to lessons while supporting learning.

✅ Helping get students excited about the subject matter.

✅ Building a mindset that lets students approach and respond to problems and opportunities with creativity and innovation.

✅ Develop students’ skills such as communication, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and building their confidence.

✅ Teachers looking to support students in developing collaboration through activities intentionally designed to foster teamwork (i.e., not just teamwork for the sake of it).

Different ways to integrate:

  • These are generally able to be completed within a single class session.

  • Use as a weekly addition if time allows or incorporate each month or term/semester.

  • If using weekly, these are great to lift engagement late in the week or start the week with high energy.

  • If using once per term/semester, these are great at the beginning to help develop good classroom culture and allow students and teachers to settle into the new class dynamic.

  • A fun way to wrap up your course, while reminding students of the essential skills they’ve developed.

  • Use as competitions to keep student interest and buy-in high.
